Spring Conference 2010
Jesus said: "The harvest is plentiful, but the
laborers are few; therefore ask the
Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
It's Harvest Time!
What is the Gospel we share?
How does the Gospel apply to our community?
"He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness."
Come for fun, come for food, come for fellowship, come for sharing.
Come and be Prepared, help Plan, be Equipped!
We hope and pray the core of every congregation will come together to learn, to share, to be encouraged, to be renewed.
Join in with the rest of the Diocese.

Who Should Go
First and most important, please make sure your parish is going to be represented by a sizeable delegation - aim for at least twice the number of people you send to diocesan synod. This will help to make the conference a great celebration of who we are as a diocese, but it will also help your parish to gain the maximum benefit. The conference is planned around equipping participants to take back a plan of action which will help your parish reach out with the Good News in the community where you live.
This also means that you may want to invite specific people to attend. While it will be good for parish leaders such as wardens, vestry, or layreaders to be there, please also think about church members whose ministry is mostly outside the structure of the church - they may be the ones with the strongest networks and the greatest insights into what is really going on in your neighbourhood. We need their gifts.
What Should We Bring
There is one specific request from our conference speaker Alan Roxburgh. Would each parish delegation please bring three photos of your neighbourhood - pictures that describe the place where you live in whatever way you think is most significant. These pictures will be used in the Saturday sessions to get you describing and thinking about the work of being gospel people in your particular setting, and also to introduce your context to others at the conference.
Please ensure that this task is assigned, to an individual or group who will be attending. It's meant to be a creative project! - so use your imagination in finding the best way to take snapshots of your community. Bring the photos in whatever format is easiest - on a digital device (camera, phone) that you can pass around your table for people to see the pictures, or in hard copies. You are also invited to send digital copies (JPEG files) to stjamesadmin@telus.net so that we can create a montage of the communities of our diocese.
Each person attending is also asked to bring a Bible, BAS and Common Praise hymnbook if possible, and your own mug for coffee/tea.
What If We Have Questions
Most questions about the conference are answered on the registration form, which you already received by mail. It is also available on the diocesan website dioath.ca Any other questions can be directed to the Dean by phone 780-624-2743 or email deanath@telusplanet.ca
